Wordsmiths is operated by Second Wind Studios LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Wordsmiths on the web and on our mobile apps (collectively, the "Service").
You can create an account using Google Sign-In or with an email address and password.
We collect and store gameplay data including your chosen display name, avatar and cosmetic selections, game history, statistics (wins, losses, ELO rating), experience points, level, in-game currency ("Gold"), and purchases.
Wordsmiths includes in-game chat and social features. Messages you send may be processed and stored to deliver them to other players, to filter inappropriate content automatically, and to enforce our Terms of Service. Your display name and avatar are shown to other players you interact with.
Purchases are processed by the platform you use:
We do not collect, store, or have access to your full credit card number or payment credentials. We receive and store only transaction metadata such as the amount, currency, transaction identifier, and the items purchased. To match a purchase to the correct account, we associate an app-generated account token with the transaction.
If you play as a guest without signing up, we create an anonymous account identified by a randomly generated ID (via Firebase Anonymous Authentication). We store your gameplay data—such as the display name you choose, statistics, currency, and cosmetics—under this anonymous ID so your progress persists on your device. We do not collect your email address or real identity for guest play. If you later create a full account, your guest progress can be merged into it.
To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically receive limited technical information such as your IP address, basic device and app information, and app/installation identifiers generated by Firebase. This information is used for authentication, security, abuse prevention, and reliability—not for advertising.
On the web, we use a session cookie to keep you signed in. On our mobile apps, the equivalent session token is stored securely on your device. These are essential for the Service to function and are not used for tracking or advertising.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for cross-app advertising or tracking. Your display name, avatar, cosmetics, and game statistics may be visible to other players through leaderboards and in-game interactions. We share data with the service providers listed in Section 6 only as needed to operate the Service, and we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase. We use server-side authentication and industry-standard security practices to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Wordsmiths is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We retain your account information and game data for as long as your account is active. Purchase records and transaction data are retained for legal and accounting purposes. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial transaction records).
